Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 April 2026

By using this website, you agree to these terms. They are written to be clear and reasonable. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What this site is

The Open Manifesto is operated by The Open Manifesto spolek, a non-profit association registered in the Czech Republic on 31 March 2026 (IČO 24415707, registered seat: Havlíčkova 155, 584 01 Ledeč nad Sázavou). The content here, including the manifesto, proposed rights, and related materials, is offered for reading, reflection, and public discourse. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, medical, or professional advice of any kind. Views expressed are those of the project and do not represent any institution or government.

Your use of this site is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we handle personal data and how you can control your cookie preferences.

2. Acceptable use

This site is a space for serious intellectual engagement. You agree not to use it to violate any applicable law, impersonate another person or organisation, submit false or abusive content, send unsolicited messages, or attempt to disrupt or compromise the security of the site. Systematically scraping or harvesting content or data without permission is not permitted. We ask that you use the site in a way that is consistent with its purpose and respectful of the people who participate in it.

3. Intellectual property

The content on this site, including the manifesto text, page copy, and design, belongs to The Open Manifesto unless otherwise stated. You are welcome to read it, share links to it, and quote short passages with clear attribution. Republishing the full manifesto text or substantial portions of it without permission is not permitted.

If you would like to use the materials in a way not covered here, write to us at hello@theopenmanifesto.org. We are open to reasonable requests that are consistent with the project's public-interest purpose.

4. User submissions and interactions

By signing the manifesto, you confirm that you are who you say you are and that your submission is genuine. Your name and any affiliation you provide may appear publicly in the signatories list. You can request removal at any time by writing to us.

By submitting a proposal or contribution, you confirm that the content is your own, that it is submitted in good faith, and that you are responsible for it. Submissions may take two forms: a proposal for a new right, or a critique or refinement of an existing idea in the manifesto. All submissions are reviewed before being considered. You give The Open Manifesto permission to use, adapt, and publish submitted content as part of the framework if it is accepted.

When you engage with the rights section by indicating that you agree or are unsure about a right, and when you leave optional reflections, this is recorded anonymously against a session identifier. These interactions are not linked to your name or email.

The System Awareness Test is a reflective tool designed to help you understand your own relationship to the systems described in the manifesto. It is not a clinical, diagnostic, or professional assessment of any kind. Results are for personal reflection only. Results are stored anonymously.

We reserve the right to review, moderate, decline, or remove any submission that is false, abusive, unlawful, or inconsistent with the purpose of the project, without notice. We will not knowingly display unlawful or infringing content.

5. Social sharing

The site includes buttons that allow you to share content on platforms such as X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Reddit. Clicking these buttons opens the relevant platform in a new window or tab. The interaction from that point forward is governed by that platform's own terms and privacy policy. We have no control over what happens once you leave this site through a sharing action.

6. External links

This site may link to third-party websites. We do not control those sites and take no responsibility for their content or practices. Links are provided for convenience and do not signal endorsement.

7. Financial contributions

Financial contributions support the operational costs and development of this project. They are voluntary. Contributions are generally non-refundable unless required by applicable law. We do not promise specific outcomes or deliverables in exchange for a contribution. Payments are processed securely through Stripe, which operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy.

8. Availability and warranty

We aim to keep this site available and its content accurate, but we make no guarantees. The site is provided as-is. We may update, change, or temporarily suspend any part of it at any time. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Open Manifesto will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. The Open Manifesto is operated by The Open Manifesto spolek, a formally registered Czech non-profit association (IČO 24415707), registered at the Regional Court in Hradec Králové under file L 15430 / KSHK. Any dispute arising from these terms that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent Czech courts.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
